BISHOP VANUEL C. LITTLE, SR.

Pastor of Greater First Deliverance Temple

Diocesan of the 26th Episcopal District of the P.A.W.

Born in the small town of Panola, Alabama on July 6, 1933 to the proud parents of Reverend and Mrs. Andrew Little, Sr. He was the second born of eleven, five sisters and five brothers.  He left the dusty sun parched fields of Panola and journeyed northward to Chicago, Illinois where he was baptized in Jesus’ Name for the remission of sins, and received the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in tongues on November 10, 1955.  Soon after he met and married the lovely Alice M. (Stevens) Little.

They are now the proud parents of three anointed children: Evangelist Ada M. Little-Cultiff (Bro. Eddie Cutliff) - parents of eight; Dr. Vanuel Charles Little, Jr. (Sister Catherine M. Little) - parents of three; and Elder Victor Carl Little, I (Sister Melissa Little) - parents of three.  They are also the humble grandparents of 14 grandchildren; and the great-grandparents of eight (8) great-grandchildren.  Bishop Little is honored to be his children’s natural father as well as their “father in the gospel”.

Bishop Little became a member of the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago, Illinois Pastored by “the late” Dist. Elder Walter Clemons for over twenty years.  He served as Assistant Pastor for 14 years under the leadership of the Honorable Bishop Arthur M. Brazier.  Bishop Little also faithfully served as Choir Director, Altar Worker, Youth Vice President and President (local and state), Custodian, and many other hard working capacities.  He and his wife, Dr. Little spearheaded the “Task Force” outreach ministry which aided in countless souls being added to the kingdom.

In excess of seven years he traveled extensively as a National Evangelist of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World.  As he continued to proclaim the Name of Christ, his mother, father, sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews were baptized in Jesus’ Name, and received the power of the Holy Ghost within the course of his ministry.  Also, during his evangelical experience on the field, after having the honor of baptizing his parents and siblings, he baptized his 97 years of age grandmother in the Precious Name of Jesus as she too received the Holy Ghost.  Bishop Little has made a tremendous impact in the lives of his entire family.

Bishop Little was elected Pastor of the First Deliverance Church located 2201 N.E. 15th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in October 1973, upon the inspired recommendation of the then Oklahoma Diocesan, Bishop Robert McMurray.  At that time, the membership had approximately 35 – 40 members.  First Deliverance Church soon became Greater First Deliverance Temple in March 1985 as the entire membership moved into it’s newly constructed, fully equipped church facility at, 2101 N. Bryant Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  The Temple is presently valued in excess of $2 million plus.  The sanctuary consists of two levels with a seating capacity of fifteen hundred, an educational wing, and a state of the art multi-purpose room facilitating a plethora of events ranging from formal banqueting to the hosting of sporting events and tournaments.

Bishop Little is the C.E.O. and Founder of the Greater First Deliverance Temple Bible College, which opened in August 1988.  These classes were designed for those desiring to enhance and develop their Christian Education experience.  Upon completion of a two-year degree program, students will have earned an Associate Degree in Theology.

It was in March 1989 • the city of West Palm Beach, Florida, Bishop Little was elected Bishop by the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.  This office, God, along with the Board of Bishops, highly favored him to hold.  In August of that same year, in Louisville, KY, Bishop Little was anointed in holy consecration by then Presiding Prelate Bishop James A. Johnson. 

Bishop Little was appointed overseer of the 36th Episcopal District (the Eastern Caribbean Council of Nations) of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World as installation ceremonies took place in January 1990, Bishop James A. Johnson officiating.  Later on October 20, 1993, Bishop Little was installed as Diocesan of the Oklahoma State Council 26th Episcopal District of the P.A.W. by then presiding Prelate Bishop Paul A. Bowers and again receiving the leadership baton from Bishop William L. Smith.  In 1992, during the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.’s Annual Convention in Chicago, IL, Bishop Little was elevated to the Board of Directors of the Bishops of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.

 

•  Bishop Little’s educational background reflects his zeal for knowledge and expressly, that of God’s Word.  After his graduation from Englewood High School  with honors in Chicago, Illinois, he studied at many other seminaries and colleges of higher learning.

•  Graduate of Aenon Bible College Extention – Associate of Theology.

•  Studied at Moody Bible institute, Chicago, Illinois.

•  Studied at Chicago Theological Seminary.

•  Attended American Bible College, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

•  1973 • awarded Honorary Doctorate of Ministries Degree from Fundamental Bible Seminary of Claremore, Oklahoma.

•  On June 3, 1993 • awarded Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Pentecostal Bible College of Tuskegee, Alabama by the President, Bishop George T. Austin.

•  On August 11, 1993, the Aenon Bible College of Indianapolis, Indiana presented Bishop Little with his second Doctorate of Divinity and Theology Degrees during the Annual Convention in Cleveland, Ohio

• In 1993, Cited in the Oxford’s Who’s Who, the Elite Registry of Extraordinary Professionals International.

Bishop Little is seen each Sunday proclaiming the gospel through a “Telecast Ministry”  aired on Cox Cable Channel 71 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Radio Broadcast airing on KTLV 1220 AM Station from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Bishop Little’s web page address is www.GFDT.org.

Bishop Little incorporated the “Bread of Life Ministries” in the church program.  This program was designed to feed those in need of physical food as well as spiritual food.  This program is supported on a donation basis by the membership.  Bishop Little is also engaged in Prison Ministry, which takes the gospel to those in places of confinement.

He has served the Oklahoma State Council in the following capacities prior to becoming the Diocesan.

•  Loyal Council member in dedication and attendance.

•  Council host and promoter

•  District Elder for 13 years.

•  Council Chairman for 9 years.

•  Council Resident Bishop supporting then Diocesan Bishop William L. Smith for his remaining 4 years before becoming Emeritus.

In 1994 to 1998,

•  Bishop Little served as the Auxiliary Director of the International Pentecostal Health Professionals.

In 1998 to 2001,

•  Bishop Little served as the Auxiliary Director of the International Pentecostal Young People’s Union.

 

In 2000,

• Second formal Citing in the Oxford’s Who’s Who, the Elite Registry of Extraordinary Professionals 2000-2001 edition.

 

In 2003,

•  Bishop Little celebrated his 30th year as Pastor of the Greater First Deliverance Temple, Inc.

•  Bishop Little celebrated his 70th year birthday with the entire Church Executive Board and membership of the Greater First Deliverance Temple, Inc.

 

In 2004,

•  Bishop Little was blessed beyond measure and highly favored of God to be found as a recipient of God’s healing virtue in his life as a life threatening illness was overcome by God’s power.

Currently, Bishop Little serves as Auxiliary Director of the International Missionary and Christian Women’s Auxiliary of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. as his wife, Dr Alice M. Little is the newly elected President and Women’s Retreat Coordinator.

With all these accomplishments, Bishop Little has remained a “man of humility”.  He loves the charge God has given him to “Feed the Flock” which the Holy Ghost has made him overseer.
